Gold and silver for tourism marketing
Guess what? We won both silver and gold trophies in the 2021 Summit Creative Awards – both for New Brunswick tourism marketing work.
We took home the gold in the category of Integrated Campaign – Consumer, for our work on Envision Saint John’s recent series of community-curated handbooks. The project’s four booklets cover the region’s Food and Drink scene, The Great Outdoors, History and Culture, and Art, Craft and Retail – using recommendations and photos contributed by a large group of Instagrammers and influencers.
“We were thrilled with the news of our win on this project,” says Katie Bowden, President and CCO. “We wanted these handbooks to be a feast for the eyes and fun to use from start to finish, and it was important to us and our client to build-in community engagement from the very start. It really was a labour of love.”
Paulette Hicks, CEO of Envision Saint John, says the handbooks were a new approach for the region.
“We just loved seeing the regional value proposition come together in such a creative way, and then be embraced by the community so enthusiastically,” says Hicks.
We also won a silver Summit Creative Award in the category of Government Marketing, for our brand activation work for the Department of Tourism, Heritage and Culture.
“The team at Tourism Heritage and Culture asked us to help them launch the ExploreNB brand at the 2020 World Pond Hockey Championship in Plaster Rock,” says Bowden. “We created a rink-side Warm Welcome Lounge using a heated yurt, branded fire pits and s’more kits, cottage-style seating areas, and custom signage. It was minus-30 the whole time we were there, so it was much needed!”
Bowden says tourism marketing is something the team at Duke loves to tackle. “It’s about capturing the visitor experience in an authentic and attractive way, You have to stand back and really see what your hometown or home province has to offer.”
The Summit Creative Awards is an international competition for agencies with annual billings below $30 million. Every year thousands of entries are received from 50 countries around the world.
