LINGUISTIC SUPPORT

BREAKOUT SESSIONS

The afternoon breakout sessions will be conducted in English. There will be no simultaneous translation available for these sessions, however all sessions will have Anglophone and Francophone facilitators present, and a bilingual Powerpoint presentation will be used. I am fluently bilingual, and would like to volunteer to be a language buddy for someone who might need translation support in my breakout session:

We have three breakout sessions available in our afternoon programming. Please review the descriptions below and let us know your first and second preference. All efforts will be made to accommodate your preferred session.

SESSION A: MOBILIZING GRASSROOTS OPERATIONS Running for office is a big lift, and it can seem intimidating if it’s your first time. This session will demystify the process of running for elected office, diving into the nitty-gritty on how to build a team, create a platform, work with your political party, handle social media, tackle fundraising, and more. SESSION B: GETTING TO YES It has been reported that women need to be asked at least five times before they decide to run for elected office. This session will identify the most common barriers that stop women from running, and discuss how to help overcome these obstacles. SESSION C: BEING AN ALLY AND ADVOCATE Setting women up for success at the ballot box starts with being an ally and advocate – but it can be a challenge to know how to help. This session will help individuals, businesses and organizations understand the many forms of support, and discuss how to design a best-fit approach for supporting the cause.
